Cheesy Sourdough Biscuits

Daniel has declared these are the best biscuits he has ever had in his life!  Watch the video for the best biscuit tip to give you flaky beautiful biscuits every time.

Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp parsley
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • ½ cup butter
  • ¾ -1 cup grated cheese (of choice)*
  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 1 garlic clove
  • ½ tbsp parsley or chives

Directions

  1. pre heat oven to 425F.
  2. In a bowl add all dry ingredients and mix to combine. Using a pastry cutter or fork, cut the butter in to form a crumbly mixture.
  3. add cheese and stir to evenly distribute.
  4. Pour in sourdough discard and mix to form a cohesive dough. Pour onto flat surface and roll out into a rectangle.
  5. Fold the dough in thirds and roll out again. Using a pastry knife cut into 8 equal squares.
  6. Place on a cast iron (or regular baking pan) and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the bottom just begins to brown.
  7. While the biscuits are still warm, brush with garlic oil.
