About the Class

This will be a full day event at the farm! Focused on how to properly and effectively mill your own flour and the various different methods to use in order to obtain that fluffy interior texture of fermented sourdough bread.  I will demonstrated my grain mills and the pros and cons of each. 

Don't have a mill? No problem, this class will be amazing for those simply wishing to dabble in the wonderful world of whole grains. We will discuss the type of wheat you want to look for when purchasing, and how you can properly store it and prepare it for optimal freshness. 

The day looks a little like this: Arrive around 9am at the farm and enjoy a snack and a coffee while we mingle and wait for everyone to arrive.  

The morning will consist of learning about your sourdough starter, how to mill wheat, prepare whole grains and store them properly. We will learn about two different methods of making sourdough with whole grain and dabble in making the dough for both. 

Lunch will be provided ! We will gather for a meal (hopefully outside on the deck if the weather permits!).

The afternoon will consist of the bulk fermentation and how we use that to build structure and fluffiness in the dough. Shaping and scoring the loafs, and then finally baking your own mini whole wheat sourdough to take home with you. 

This day will end whenever it is meant to! I continue until all questions are answered and everyone feels confident in the process. You will each take home an apron and one of my sourdough starters to use in your own kitchen. 

Included in this class is the complete and comprehensive online whole grain course that will be launching this May. You will receive access to that course within ten days ahead of the in-person class so you can watch the modules and come with all your questions.
